Throughout human history, there have always been many people with many needs. Jesus recognized this. He said that we should serve those in need as if we were actually serving him. He said, “Truly I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.” (Matthew 25:40)
Where Can Those in Need Go for Help?

Today, many people in Bowie do need help and Jesus calls us to care for and help them. But his call poses some challenges: Many in Bowie may want to answer Jesus’s call but don’t know how to or where to help. And people with particular needs may not know where to go to get help. On top of that, Bowie groups providing help may miss opportunities to work together because they’re not even aware of what each group is doing. So, to help needy people to find care and help volunteers to give care, as well as to help organizations better work together to meet needs in Bowie, We Care Bowie has developed a framework for meeting basic needs. In coordination with churches, government, and social services, we created the We Care Bowie Brochure reference guide. We hope that using this guide will help Bowie churches, non-profits, and government services to work together to answer Jesus’ call to care for the ‘least of these’ and provide a powerful Christian witness.
How Can You Help?
If you are able and willing to help others in need, we invite you to help any of the organizations shown in the We Care Bowie Brochure reference guide linked above to achieve their respective missions of care. And, if you are a local care provider, we hope you will use the information provided to seek opportunities to leverage your efforts with those of others in the Bowie area.
In Bowie, each church pastor certainly must meet the needs of their own congregation. Concurrently, however, the Light of the World Foundation also is challenging churches in Bowie (as well as in each American city) to show more outward evidence that churches and social services are working together in unity in reaching out to love their neighbors.
We look forward to working with you to ‘help the least of these’ in Bowie.
