Why should we pray for the suffering and persecuted church?   Brother Andrew link

Pray for:

1.   for God’s will to be done on earth as it is in heaven.  ( Matthew 6:9-13 )

2.  for imprisoned Christians to be comforted in their loneliness and despair by the presence of the Holy Spirit.   ( Psalm 139:7-12 )

3.   for Christians who are beaten and tortured.
– Pray that this physical violence will stop.
– Pray that their bodies will be healed.
– Pray that these brothers and sisters, like Jesus (Luke 23:34) and Stephen (Acts 7:60), will forgive their tormentors.

4.  for Christians who are made slaves.
– Pray that their conduct as slaves will glorify God. (Titus 2:9-10)
– Pray that they may escape or gain their freedom and return to their families.

5.  for Christians who have lost homes, income, food, sources of water, and have no means of providing shelter and sustenance for their families. Pray that God will provide all that His children need and will alleviate their worry.  ( Matthew 6:32-34 )

6.  that Christians in persecuted churches and communities will support each other and band together in the face of fear.  ( 1 Peter 4:7-11)
.. that Christians who are currently enjoying religious freedom, including yourself, will understand how to suffer with other members of God’s family.  (Hebrews 13:3)
– Pray that the Holy Spirit will lead some to act in prayer and others to become advocates.
– Pray that these Christians, including yourself, will respond to the Holy Spirit’s leading.

7.  for the provision of Bibles.  (Psalm 119:105-112)

8.  for the oppressors of Christians, that they may experience repentance and salvation.  Read the story of Saul in Acts 7:58, 8:1 and 9:1-19.

9.  that leaders of democratic countries will speak out regarding the violation of human rights. God has established governments to do justice. ( 1 Peter 2:13-14)

10.  for God to raise up more leaders among the persecuted church.
– Pray for these leaders to be strengthened by God.
– Pray for their courage.
– Pray for their wisdom.
– Pray for the leaders of the persecuted church, that they may be faithful to their God-given responsibilities. ( 1 Peter 5:1-4, 1 Timothy 3:1-10 )
