When Adam and Eve were put in the Garden, they were given dominion over it by the authority of God. Domain refers to an area of responsibility and influence.
Just before Christ left the earth for heaven, He said to His followers, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.” (Matthew 28:18) Jesus Christ is the supreme authority in the entire universe, and yet he delegated some of that authority to His followers by saying:
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them
in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.
And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
(Matthew 28:19-20, ESV)
Our dominion begins with ourselves. We must learn to govern ourselves by following God’s word by the power of the Holy Spirit. We must first become Jesus’ disciples! After that, we are to go into the world to make disciples and to teach, beginning with our families, …then to our neighborhood, …then to our city,
… then to our county, … then to our State, … then to our Nation,
… then to “all nations.”
How many people need Jesus within a 30-mile radius of the City of Bowie? Over a million souls!
